2021-05-14 100-meter wind anomaly forecasts are now available for the GFS ensemble weeklies - find them under the long range menu. https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/gfs-ens-weekly#power
2021-05-11 New region is added to the clustering products called Europe Expanded for a deeper view into Asia as well. See an example here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model-cluster/mega/00z/europeexp/20210511/europeexp?unit1=F&unit2=in Find Clustering products under the SV Features menu along the top.
2021-05-03 Wind generation model compare pages now update live with incoming model data (no need to reload page). See example here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/windgen/2021050312z/ercot/ecmwf-eps Model compare pages are found under Features -> Renewables -> Wind Generation and then choose from the Compare Cycles drop down menu in upper right.
2021-04-28 The East Atlantic (EA) teleconnection has been added to StormVista. You can find it wherever you see all the other telecon information (API, model line charts, historical composites, telecon change line charts, etc).
2021-03-22 The GFS Op model will be upgraded to version 16 today at the 12z cycle. NOAA ran the 0z parallel, so we will have apples-to-apples changes for the 12-hour maps; however, they did not run a 6z cyle this morning, so the 6-hour change maps will be against the old model. The model is expected to update slower with an 8-minute delay at the start and an 11 minute delay by the finish of the cycle. The parallel GFS Op feed has now ended with this upgrade.
2021-03-12 We recently added more variables and time stamps to the UKMet model on SV. The model goes out 168 hours, and we now have 6-hour panels, temperature anomalies, and precipitation. More variables/maps are coming soon. Find these under the Medium menu along the top of the SV page. https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model/ukmet
2021-03-12 GFS Ensemble Weeklies are now added as a third option to the predict-the-prediction MondayCast page. Find it under the Long menu along the top of the SV page. Or go here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/mondaycast
2021-03-11 North American Temperature Tracker Beta has been added and follows the similar format to the new European ones that show average forecast temperature for multiple model cycles. Find it under Features and City/Region Plots or by going here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/temperature-tracker/us
2021-03-05 New MondayCast feature uses the long-lead models to predict Monday's 6-10, 11-15 day maps, updating both Thursday and Friday mornings. This feature is available to Corporate customers. Look for the GFS Ensemble weeklies to be added in the near future. Find it listed under the Long menu along the top of the page.
2021-02-25 New line charts are added to the Wind Generation Verification pages to show the change in skill over the forecast period for both MAE and bias. You can find these under Features -> Model Metrics --> Wind Generation Verification and choose the option for Full Period Skill under the Period drop down menu in the upper right. ERCOT example here.
2021-02-15 Teleconnection live-updating change page now shows 6-hour changes in addition to 12 and 24 hour. Find this under Features ---> Telecons and Forcing ---> Telecon Change and switch the option from 12-hour to 6 or 24.
2021-02-11 We now have record high and low heating and cooling degree day national weighted values available in the line charts (click on the legend to add them) and in the tables below as separate rows. https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/wdd/daily Find this product under the Features menu, picking WDD, and choosing the first option, Daily.
2021-02-04 New synoptic maps showing PV, irrotational wind, jet speed and vertical velocities for the GFS: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model/gfs-suite/12z/atlantic/279-pv-irrotational-wind-vertical-velocity Find them in the GFS Operational Upper Level and MSLP tab for North America and many other regions (Atlantic Ocean example linked above)
2021-01-19 New Implied Bal-Month Degree Day Forecasts available on StormVista for all medium range models. They take the current forecast and run either the 10 or 30-year normal balance of month for a total estimate with each model cycle. Line charts let you see forecast progression and a table at the bottom of the page lets you do a quick assessment of the modeling range (color-coded by departure from normal). Default is 10-year normal, but you can toggle to 30-year as well. Find this new product under the Features ---> WDD, but you can also find Bal-Mon WDD on the Quick Navigation toolbar on any WDD page on StormVista.
2021-01-08 You can now see telecon overlays to add to upper level maps for the EAWR, SCAND, EPO, WPO, NAO, ABNA, and PNA. Find these overlays by clicking the overlay button just above the map that you've chosen.
2021-01-05 GFS ensemble weeklies are available for corporate customers for various time periods like EIA weeks, 16-20 day, 16-30 day, Mon-Fri power weeks, and the Mon-Sun weeks to match against the European weeklies. Eventually, NOAA plans this data to replace the CFS modeling and recently, they have offered significantly different guidance from each other. We also feature daily GFS Ensemble forecasts out 34-35 days (depending on the time zone). Find all of these GEFS weekly products under the Long menu along the top of SV and the daily composites are also found under Features --> Composites.
2020-12-11 U.S. regional verifications are now available on StormVista like this ERCOT 6-10 day example linked here. Find these new verifications under Features --> Model Metrics ---> Verification
2020-12-10 10mb Zonal Wind forecasts at 65N are now available for the European and American models, including all ensemble members. See an example here and find it under Features menu at top and choosing Telecons and Forcing.
2020-12-02 The HRRR model (under the Short Range menu) is upgraded at the 12z cycle today with 0, 06, 12, and 18z runs now going out to 48 hours. The RAP model (under the Short Range menu) is also updated with the model now going out to 51 hours for 03, 09, 15, 21z cycles. New variables include smoke and max surface hail size.
2020-12-02 Max capacity generation lines are added to the SV wind generation line charts. See an example here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/windgen Find the SV wind generation forecasts under the Features menu and choosing Renewables.
